Sunday night is the second match for week 1 of CEVO Professional
play. The map remains train, and last round's winners will try to
continue their streak while last week's losers will get another shot
to right their ship and bring their records back to .500. With a lot
of focus being placed on the recent move to Counter-Strike Source by
a lot of the top teams, this league seems to be lost in the mix.
Amidst all the fuss of CGS and CSS, these world-class teams remain to
represent their favorite game on what is still the nation's premiere
online stage.
Last week, Johnny "Ph33r" Schwan beat
our very own head of CS coverage, Edward "reflex" Chang,
out-predicting him 5 matches to 4. This week they'll go head to head
again.

I initially regretted my
decision of picking u5 over JMC last week after I found out aZn
made the jump to JMC. I was still right however, as u5 soundly
defeated JMC to show that they still have some fight left in
them. zEx made me pay for picking netFragz to beat them next week,
but here's to betting that they won't beat my pred two matches in
a row. I see aZn fired up for the next match, as well as JMC
showing eng the soccer pro that they're fine without him. I give
this match to JMC in a close one.
Prediction:
JMC defeats
zEx 17-13

Both teams here haven't been practicing much
as of late, so it will be a real battle of who shows up to play
and who doesn't. I think JMC will come prepared with a brucey
hanes ready to put in work. Despite zEx's potential i just dont
see them being able to win this one.
Prediction:
JMC defeats
zEx 19-11

Our very own 1.6 team
absolutely destroyed rSports last week, while u5 made a statement
of their own taking out JMC with their new LAN beast aZn. This is
definitely the match of the week!

Well, well, well; look who we have here --
if it isn't keen's ex-teammates. Looks like we have a battle on
our hands here! I think this should be a pretty good matchup as u5
is definitely playing withsomething to prove here. Unfortunately
for them, I'm feeling confident as of late and when that happens
it's not a good time to be playing against me. ;)

After
watching rSports get beat soundly last match, who could pick them
to turn around and win on the same map? Regardless, I'm going to
make the leap of faith and pick rS on this one. Flow didn't beat
Meepins last week as bad as I thought they would, and I'm pretty
sure Jame^s is going to have his men fired up and ready to frag.
If either team wins it's gonna be a close one. If rS can go back
to playing like they did in the CEVO-P placement tourney they
should have no trouble with this match.
Prediction:
rSports defeats
Flow Gaming 16-14

This should be a great match considering its
an east coast rivalry. These guys are definitely going to be
playing for more than just the victory, as there will be pride on
the line if not more. With rSports coming off of a bad beat last
match against Pandemic I really see flow winning this match. On
the other hand, don't ever count rSports out!
Prediction:
Flow Gaming defeats
rSports 16-14

Again, I reiterate that EG
has benefited the most from its pickups during this hectic
"offseason." Johnny thinks Meepins is going to be blown
out, but I have some inside information that tells me Mr.
Bambrough will be playing from the 50Calibre house, also known as
the "pwnhouse." While there is no shortage of alcohol
and donuts in this legendary residence, .50|decline seems to have
his cs crash every match they play. This definitely doesn't bode
well for GRT and company.
BUT, they are still the best team
in Canada and deserving of their top 5 spot in North America. That
being said, I'm pretty sure EG could win this 4v5.
Prediction:
Evil Geniuses defeats
Meepins 20-10

Meepins vs EG. The final score will all
depend on how badly Meepins wants to win; if they want to win,
they might make this one a game -- if they don't, they're going to
get dominated. I simply don't see them winning this match due to
their lack of professionalism and the fact that they're simply
being outclassed. Meanwhile, EG with their experience and the
"GuRT" will run like the bulls do in Spain.
Prediction:
Evil Geniuses defeats
Meepins 25-5

NetFragz seems to have a very
unstable lineup with no one really knowing what team Ben Hui is
playing for, u5 or NF. They let me down last week as I predicted
an "upset" against zEx, but I learned from my mistake.
x3o is a good team, they practice a lot, and it shows. No one
expected them to make CEVO-P except for them and their fans. Hats
off to them, and I'll assume they keep practicing hard and beat
netfragz.
Prediction:
x3o defeats
NetFragz 18-12

NetFragz and x3o are two inconsistent teams.
With that being said, it could be anyones game. I think x3o might
be a bit more prepared than NetFragz and catch them off guard,
leaving NF paralyzed from the start. LoAok for x3o to take down
NetFragz in style
Prediction:
x3o defeats
NetFragz 20-10

Good luck to all the teams and come back next week when we
post the predictions for the Week 2:1 Matches.
