Today, Pandemic DotA began competition in the biggest tournament of their lives, representing the United States at the eSports World Cup. In a tough group featuring some of top teams in the game and tournament favorites like Meet Your Makers, it'd be a tough task for Pandemic to make the same mark they made when they burst on to the scene at the ESWC qualifiers.
The tournament started with some issues for Pandemic as their fifth player Nick "Mirror" Laney couldn't get on to his flight because ESWC booked him with the wrong name. That left Pandemic to find a replacement in Eddy, but forced them to start the tourney on a sour note.
Pandemic opened the day with a quick victory over the Brazilians Fear of the Spoon, securing their first win in a tough group.
Next came Meet Your Makers, heavy favorites in many peoples' eyes heading in to the event. Pandemic had prepared an unorthodox strategy to take them on utilizing some rarely used tactics, and despite taking down the first three towers mYm managed to get the most hero kills and outlevel Pandemic into an insurmountable advantage.
With two matches under their belts and a 1-1 record, Pandemic will need to be at the top of the game to make sure they advance from their group into the next stage of the tournament. Still remaining are Zenith of Singapore, the team that upset mYm, and the Romanian allstars The Elder Gods.
