Ohnoes talks before Global Challenge

Last season, David “Ohnoes” Atz battled against new teammates Nathan “Kintt” Quinn and Brian “Caal” McPharlin as a member of MoB TurtleForce. Now, though, he'll be teaming with them as the newest member of Pandemic. Today the trio battled their first two opponents in Leipzig, Germany, at the Electronic Sports League Extreme Master Global Challenge, but before they left, Ohnoes gave us some insight into what it's like playing with his former rivals and how they felt heading to Europe.

You're no longer part of MoB - what was it like playing with Godfather yelling in your ear all that time?

It didn't bother me at all, I just stuck to playing the game and let him do all the trash talking.

Do you think Vinny gets a bad rap for how he acts?

I think he does but only because no one likes how he comes off as this cocky loud mean person when actually he's a super cool guy to chill with.

Last year, Kintt and Caal were members of your team's biggest rivals. What's it been like changing gears and playing with them as teammates?

Its awesome. I couldn't have asked for anything better, and I think we all feel the same way about it, which is why we decided to play together.

Kintt was largely considered the best WoW player through last season based off his major impact and success, after playing with him, do you see that kind of quality in him? What makes him special?

I can see it; he's super smart when it comes to tournament play, he knows the little things about the metagame that the average player wouldn't and can squeeze out those big wins.

This year, Caal's teams havn't posted the results he's been accustomed to and a lot of other Druids like Hafu and Spoh have gotten a lot of credit where last season he was one of the only few Druids competing on LAN. How do you compare him to the other talented players of the class and what are his unique talents he brings to the game?

Caal is incredible. A lot of people will simply discredit him because of how his previous team has performed this year, but that doesn't make him a bad player by any means, most teams that do poorly are either not practicing or have chemistry issues and so far he's met those requirements for this team. I would say he's just as good if not better then the best druids in WoW at the moment. He brings that confidence a team needs when it comes to playing, he's the most relaxed person when it comes to this game which is helpful in I can't tell you how many situations.

You've been playing a Rogue as your secondary class for a while, but have always played Mage in tournaments, considering you've teamed with Zecks everywhere you've played for the past two years. Is it awkward to play on a serious competitive team without him there?

At this point no, zecks and I will always be great friends, but ever since he's quit the game I have been playing with other people. It was weird at first but I've grown to play without him.

What did you learn about Rogue from your time playing with him?

Little things here and there, I played a hardcore 60 pvp rogue at the same time as him so I knew most things, but when TBC came out and I started to play a mage I dropped out of the rogue scene for a bit but I got right back into it and would always ask advice and his opinion on things, we would always have great rogue conversations about whats better in certain situations, things like that. I think thats another reason we became such great teammates, we just had chemistry the first game we started practicing with eachother.

You guys are playing Rogue/Priest/Druid as your main comp; what do you think makes it strong enough to be your main and what about your individual playstyles makes it a strong comp for you guys?

Druids, priests, and rogues are all extremely strong classes right now, playing this comp sometimes makes me think its more 3 DPS sometimes then double healer. The damage output of a priest, druid, and a rogue using pve gear is what makes this comp so strong. Kintt and Caal are both very aggresive players when it comes to this comp, the damage that they themselves do to a target sometimes is just absurd.

You haven't had much time to practice for the event, how prepared do you feel?

I feel very prepared, only had about a week and a half of practice time and I feel like we can take on any team.

Is there anything specific you've worked on, like countering certain comps, considering you've had a limited amount of preparation?

No not really, we practiced a few comps for counter comping but not many, rogue priest druid just feels like it can beat anything.

What are your expectations for this tournament, considering it's your first? What are the expectations for this team and the future?

I feel we can take first in this one, and place that way in many future tournaments.

Anything you'd like to add?

Just want to thank Pandemic for giving me the opportunity to play under such great name with fantastic players.
