Major League Gaming (MLG) has announced its 2009 tournament details and as expected World of Warcraft will make its return in the second annual PC Circuit season.
The historically console-centric league added the circuit last season on the heels of the rising success of competitive World of Warcraft, and though they've yet to expand their game selection, it's no secret that they're testing the waters. Online tournaments hosted by MLG affiliates Gamebattles and Gotfrag have recently served as feelers into the communities of CoD4 and TF2.
Pandemic of course will be in contention throughout the circuit and, new this year, ultimately vying for the grand finals crown.
"We've still got a bad taste in our mouth from last year's MLG experience," said Chris Lemley, manager of Team Pandemic. "Our WoW squad entered the circuit ranked #1 and on an unbelievable roll, and instead of raising a new championship for the organization we walked out of San Diego, Orlando, and Dallas beaten and battered... disappointed every time. Hopefully Columbus can be a different type of turning point for us this time around."
From GotFrag.com:
Major League Gaming has officially announced details for the upcoming 2009 MLG Pro and PC Circuits. The first stop in the circuit, as previously announced, will be at The Meadowlands New Jersey, April 3rd-5th and will include the league's flagship game, HALO 3 and the league's debut of Gears of War 2 for the Xbox 360. More details have been announced with more stops, more games and more competition than ever before.
Four more stops have been added to the tour with location details for the second stop in Columbus, Ohio. The four added stops will include HALO 3 and Gears of War for the Xbox 360 along with 2009's return of the PC Circuit. The PC Circuit once again will be hosting World of Warcraft Arena competition on a grand scale. More information on the MLG PC Circuit will be announced soon.
Along with the 2009 Pro Circuit details, MLG has launched an all new 2009 Pro Circuit page that should provide fans, players and the curious with all the information they would need to know about the circuit. The league has also announced an all new Rolling Rank Point System, a Revolutionary Championship Bracket Format, online qualifiers and Online Pro Circuit and an Expanded Spectator Experience.
