This past Thursday Pandemic.CoD4 began the long quest to reclaim their CEVO championship and become the first team to win back to back CEVO Call of Duty championships. For their season opener, Pandemic was scheduled against one of the best new teams in the professional division, Pure E-Sports, in what many thought would be an interesting test for Pure and even more so of Pandemic with the recent addition of Nicolas “Nicolas” Aubin. While Pure put up quite the challenging match, Aubin and the rest of Pandemic managed to start the season right where they left off, at the top, with an impressive 16-12 victory.

The match was played on Vacant with Pandemic taking the offensive side first after losing the knife round. This didn’t seem have much effect, however, as Pandemic came out strong, picking up the first three rounds, and leaving Pure to play catch-up. Surprising enough, Pure managed to do just that, making a quick adjustment near Bathroom area and the A bombsite to tie the score back up.

Pandemic would not let Pure gain any more momentum by picking up the following round and eventually leading up to a clutch round by Aubin against Josh “gladiator” Adams to silence the doubters and give Pandemic the 2 round lead. For the remainder of the half both Pandemic and Pure managed to trade off rounds with excellent play coming from both sides including a 4-frag round from Pandemic’s Jason “crzg” Pielemeier and an impressive 1v2 clutch from team captain Joe “nabore” Amorosa to close the first half 9-6 in Pandemic’s favor.

Heading onto defense with a 3 round lead, Pandemic was looking widen the gap, however, Pure’s unique offense through Pandemic off-guard as they won the first three rounds in the second half to once again tie the game back up. Desperate to break Pure’s momentum, Pandemic tried a very risky defensive rush to outside the A bombsite hanger around docks in an attempt to shut down Pure before they even had a chance to enter the bombsite.

Almost like magic, Pandemic managed to find an effective counter to Pure’s offense and once again began trading rounds back and forth with a slight lead thanks to an impressive hat trick coming in from Keith “kzu” Hullenaar. With stability and experience on their side, Pandemic managed to close out the match in the final rounds of the second half without letting Pure play the catch-up game reminiscent of the former EG style.

With this victory Pandemic now looks ahead for their next match against another newcomer to the professional division, Pushing the Limits. Be sure to keep it locked here at TeamPandemic.net for continuing CEVO-Pro CoD4 coverage!
