Yesterday, the Pandemic DotA team finished a sweep of their group in the Razer-sponsored Europe North America DotA Championship 2008 (ENADC) with a 2-1 win over the Russian Team Techies. The victory, added to their 2-1 triumphs over mYm and oXmoze, put Pandemic at the top of their group, ensuring a top seed heading into the playoff stage of the event.
The game against Techies, the underdogs of the group, started off without a hitch as Pandemic displayed their skill and dominated the first round. Round two, though, went differently as the favorites showed some of that flair, creativity, and perhaps cockiness that makes them one of the more interesting teams to follow in the scene, opting for an ill-fated push strat in an attempt to end the match quickly.
With five players attacking middle in a headlong rush, Pandemic even threw the kitchen sink at the Russians – including a Techies hero pick, ironically – but the red army collapsed on the offensive with ease. The third game, though, swung back to the favorites as they adopted their more traditional strategies and simply outplayed the Russians.
“Feels great to come out of such a hard group, especially with a 3-0 record,” smiled Mohamed “m0” Nasar, “we feel pretty confident going into the playoffs and hope we continue playing this well!”
