Team Pandemic - News - Pandemic Wins Nvision TF2

Yesterday, the Team Fortress 2 team began play in their first LAN tournament ever here at Nvision 2008 in the Geforce LAN section of the huge event. Before that, though, they put on the first professional workshop of the entire event in the exhibit hall, teaching a crowded room of spectators how to play Team Fortress 2 on a professional level.

The workshop, set up by the eSports Entertainment Assocation, had the whole Pandemic up on stage talking about Team Fortress 2 as an eSport, showing off their class and teaching the crowd how to play on professional level. With a powerpoint presentation put together by the Experiment's Angela "bagelbear" Li, the crowd learned about details such as rocket jumping, movement tips, and more in Nvision's large exhibit hall.

After the workshop, match play quickly began as Pandemic faced a group with two teams straight from the Geforce LAN BYOC, Failbait and Weak-end Warriors. Despite their unorthodox tactics, like a two heavy, three soldier strategy on cp_well, Pandemic rolled through their first two matches to take the top seed entering bracket play with two 5-0 wins.

The first UB match featured Pandemic against The Experiment, a bit of a nostalgic game as the current Pandemic squad used to play under the same title before joining the organization. In addition, Tim "dummy" Olson and Jeff "jmitchell" Mitchell, former Pandemic members, headed e up an Experiemnt squad that former all-star soldier and brother of Pandemic's scknsS, Garrett "Nadagast" Mitchell, and even Quake superstar Rafik "LoStCaUzE" Bryant. The Experiment put up a good fight, but in the end they could only muster two rounds against a stronger Pandemic squad.

With a 5-2 win under their belts, a match against Bonk was next on the schedule. They proved only a minor roadblock, however, as Pandemic steamrolled them on cp_well with a bigger target in sight: Eximius in the Upper Bracket Finals.
