Team Pandemic - News - CoD4 Storms TEX, Falter in Finals

Day two of the eXperience in Roskilde, Denmark delivered nothing but high octane intense matches as the group stage finished up and the double elimination playoffs began. Pandemic had only one group stage match to play as the team had already completed four of their five matches during day one. Despite winning the first two matches the previous day by a convincing 13-6 score; Pandemic was set to go head to head with North American rivals Evil Geniuses. In what some could argue as one of the best matches in group stage, the two North American powerhouses battled it out in Denmark with Pandemic closing out a 13-10 victory over EG after an extremely impressive 6-6 first half against EG’s defense. In their final match during day one, Pandemic managed to pull off a close win over the Turkish team NCS Gaming who played very well against them.

Coming into day two undefeated, Pandemic played their first match on City Streets again Team Zetta where Pandemic pulled out the victory and secured the first seed going into playoffs. Due to the way the eXperience structured its prize payout, teams earn money for every upper bracket match they play. The further in the upper bracket, the more money they win. By getting first seed, Pandemic had been given a bye and the 400 euro reward for winning round one of the upper bracket. Their second and final match of the evening was against eSuba surprisingly again on Strike.

Pandemic won the knife round behind impressive play from Joe “nabore” Amorosa and never looked back. Choosing to go on defense first, Pandemic’s well coordinated defense and seemingly perfect rotations was just too much for eSuba to handle. With their sniper “luckeR” as their backbone eSuba only managed to win one round in the first half against Pandemic’s defense which seemed to win almost every clutch situation. Moving onto offense with an impressive 11-1 lead Pandemic did not stop the momentum, taking the first round and bringing the game within match point. Despite being down, eSuba picked up 4 straight rounds with very impressive play around the broadway and middle street area, shutting Pandemic’s mid push down. Eventually, Pandemic adapted to their strong middle defense and concentrated a hard push into the A bombsite to win the match 13-5, as well as the 800€ prize.

This win advances Pandemic into the upper bracket semifinals where Pandemic will go head to head against the Swedish powerhouse Fnatic, who like Pandemic, remains undefeated throughout the entire event. Fnatic also received a bye the first round of the upper bracket before playing an extremely impressive Infused Gaming team who managed to drop Dignitas to the lower bracket in round one. Despite a brilliant comeback after being behind in the beginning of the match, infused could not stand up to the Swedes as Fnatic closed the match 13-9 on CityStreets.

Pandemic’s match against Fnatic will once again be a standard map veto system where each team chooses two maps to eliminate and the remaining map is the map to be played.
