Recap written by Jason Mo
Pandemic DotA, widely considered as the top North American DotA team, won
first place of the 5v5 DotA division at LANageddon this weekend in Calgary,
Alberta Canada. LANageddon is Calgary’s largest and longest running LAN party,
hosting tournaments in a wide variety of games. LANageddon is an annual event
that has been going on for seven years, however, this is the first year that a
DotA division has been offered due to increasing popularity. It is considered to
be one of Canada’s most prestigious LANs, attracting hundreds of world class
competitors.
Pandemic was able to send three starters; Fachh, Dijongenie, and Swissbeatz
while adding two players (Tjor and Greenwood) to complete their five man roster.
Dijongenie flew to Canada to participate in the event. Pandemic’s squad tore
through the preliminary field using the same lineup of Tinker solo, Silencer
solo, and a tri-lane of Zeus/Earthshaker/Vengeful Spirit. Excellent coordination
in the trilane led by Fachh resulted in many kills and under leveled opponents
in each game. Dijongenie played very well as tinker, executing ganks flawlessly
and racking up kills. Swissbeatz’s Silencer had great micro and carried Pandemic
in team battles. Tjor and Greenwood also played very well in the supporting
role. Overall skill and great teamwork allowed Pandemic to go undefeated
thorough out the tournament, defeating team Sup Wit It in the final match and
placing first.
Pandemic’s leader Larry “Fachh” Li commented about the event “LANageddon was
very fun, and it was a great to win the event.” For first place, the team won
laptop backpacks and new SteelSeries 5h v2 headsets. Pandemic DotA looks to
continue there success in various leagues as well as future LAN events.
